Washing Overalls

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Awhile back some one posted about the claps on their overalls, wearing out and needing to be replaced, I had just ganced over the thread at the time.[and I couldn't find it in the old postings]

Now my husband and I have bought our first overalls in years, [possibly since childhood] I remembered to hook the wire claps on the lowest button at the side waist closing, then button the next above that. With the straps secured this way the banging and wear on the claps in greatly reduced becuase they are held inside and coverd by fabric while washing and drying in a machine and it is faster/easyer than safety pinning them.

When I go to the Loo, I stick the straps in my back pockets to keep them from dangling in the water or down the O'house hole.

A friend pointed out to me that over time the button holes get worn and don't hold so good, and the buttons or snaps on the bib will work too.
