More info Bart. How big? Like acre feet. How deep? Source of water? Is the water flowing into the pond 24/7? What lives there? What is "successful" to you? What type of soil and what are your weather extremes and averages. :) Little Quacker

So, what is "successful" or not to you? Do you mean you don't catch fish in the winter? Our fish go dormant during the winter here and don't bite on anything. Is that what's happening with yours? LQ

Do what I do and take a twelve pack when you go fishing, this way you're guaranteed to catch something!

Bart, From my experience Bass are not that active during the winter. They do feed, but very passively. I have caught Bass while ice fishing but it is unusual. They would hit on very small ice flies, possibly your fishing for them to aggresively with to big a lure/bait. The perch and crappie are good cold weather fish. Maybe you should concentrate on them and save the bass for warmer weather.

Thanks i will try that.

Hi Bart,

Just wanted to mention that when you're posting, please turn the "caps" off. Typing in all caps is considered screaming.

As for the bass, you don't say where the pond is located. Fish often slow down when the season heads for winter, they "stock up" during early autumn, then go into a bit of dormancy during a time when food is not usually readily available.

In winter you sometimes have to fish extremely slow and present small lures.
