Lots of airplanes!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Freedom! self reliance : One Thread

Real strange thing this morning. Around 7:05, heard a 'roaring' sound outside, like a really low, large airplane(s)...only it kept roaring, and it kept on for a full 15 minutes. Even brought Steve out of the house for a look see. Couldn't see them, must have been on the other side of the mountains, but, my golly they were loud and there was a lot of them. Got my airforce daughter on the phone, who is stationed in Luke AFB, Phoenix, and she could hear them from the phone line...said they sounded like 'heavies'. We don't have a auxillary landing base here in Flag, and she was unaware of anything happening, but was gonna hunt around there on the base and see what was up. Very awesome, scary sort of a sound...reminded me of watching those old war movies. Made me go straight to Father God in my Spirit....Sissy

Funny you should mention that. We heard something like that a coupla days ago. The airport is about 5 miles east of here and the paper mill 3 1/2 miles east. Now and then I see a military cargo plane there.

There have been a lot of low flying jets here, but no heavies from what I can tell. It has been really overcast and they weeere above the weather but still low enough to kind of rumble. i don't know what is going on, but yahoo had a blurb that we now have 80,000 troops in the Gulf area. Prayer is a good idea!

I see formations of 2, 4, and occasionally 6 big C-130's that come over our place REAL low. I'd guess 300-400 ft up. Sometimes lower when they're out over the flat River bottoms. Maybe 200' then.

They do make a heck of a noise. I've seen them doing this for 2-3 years at least, so it's not new whatever training their doing. To low to drop troops from that's for sure. Unless they've got something I never used. Could just be nap of the earth practice.

I DO know it scares the hell out of the Guineas!!!

heheheh they've been flying over here for over 8 years. Recently we've had the pleasure of sonic booms. Cat & Dogs flip out for a good 45 minutes after a sonic boom.

Got a good look at the stealth heliocopter last week-end. Don't make much noise but still has a shadow. hahaha guess they ain't got that figured out yet.
