What is the stockinette stitch in knitting? It is simple. As you can tell I have not knitted and would like to make a baby afghan. I was told that the blanket I saw in a picture was the stockinette stitch???!!!??? Thanks so much.

Stockinette stich is just knit one row, purl one row. Your pattern piece will have all the knit stitches on one side and all your purl stitches on the other. In other words, the knit side will look like the stiches socks have and the purl side will be kind of nubbie.
