Daughter's Birthday Present - A Young Lady

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Style Homesteading : One Thread

Well folks ... it's happening WAY too fast! My daughter, Jessica, had her 12th birthday the 28th of March. As always, she made out like a bandit on presents. This year, she even got TWO cakes, but there was a special reason. We celebrated her birthday on the 28th, then on the 29th we celebrated her entrance into "womanhood!"

Of course, I'm in TOTAL denial, but we decided a LONG time ago to make this topsy-truvy time in our daughter's lives a time of joy and celebration instead of something to dread. Jess was a little timid and uneasy about it to start with, but she lightened up and enjoyed her party after a bit and we had a good time! I informed Kaitlyn that she wasn't allowed to grow any older! She looked at me with that sidways glance she uses to wrap me around her finger with and said, "D-A-D! I'm ONLY four!" Laughed 'til I cried!

I'm so thankful to be blessed with the wonderful family I have and I do my best not to take them for granted! They grow up SOOOOO fast!

Just wanted to share this with our "extended family!" Hope your day is full of sunshine and laughter!

What a great idea Phil, my dh, isnt looking forward to this age either. He about died when I told him I was going to start telling our oldest alittle about where babies come from.... ( not alot, on her birthday, we talked about how mommies and daddies have to love each other , get married and then you can get a baby). I think this is a wonderful way for you too keep connected with her as she becomes a woman.... Three cheers for you, as you try to make her teen years special.
