Ahhhh Springtime

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

It's starting to feel like life again. Our chickens started laying a few days ago, and I finally got the potatoes and peas planted. STill behind on other garden stuff. Almost got the raised bed ready. Most of the root crops are going in there, don't know how much room we have here. Happy spring.

Well it is snow and sleeting here in Indianapolis, and cold. Spring Time? Not Yet. Hopefully soon.

We got a hail storm Saturday. My snow peas look pretty bad, but the tomatoes and peppers are OK. My second planting of corn came up so spotty anyway that a little hail damage doesn't matter.

I have a really abundant crop of nut grass. sigh.

Spring??? I don't think so. It is misting snow right now. 11:30 AM One of these days. Me spring flowers are up and waiting to bloom. Since we live back in a woods spring is the pretty time of year. So much shade in summer what I can grow is limited. Think Sunshine! Billie NE OH

Well Tues-Thurs was beautiful and no wind till Friday afternoon, wind came up and people were burning their fields. We did hear the fire sirens go off. Sat. was cold and windy but did get out to get onion sets in and some potatos planted. My rhubarb plant is up,last year was the first year we could eat from it. It is really good.

My husband finished the brooder( it really turned out nice) and this Friday the chicks come. He made the side with see through plastic and I can see the chicks with out having to lift the lid. With cold weather. I felt like home made spagetti. So thats what I fixed for supper.
