Update on doe

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Dairygoats : One Thread

Well, my older doe did give me one baby on Saturday night. The legs were tucked back and I had to pull them out as she was having problems. Both Mama and baby appear to be doing well. This does almost always gave triplets. She did give twins one time. Last year she did not kid, although we thought she was bred. Is it normal to go back to having one kid?

Marci, haven't you figured it out yet? There isn't anything normal about goats, or the folks who own and love them! Merecedes has got to be the iceing on the cake. Big ole doe, beautiful, has 2 milking legs and will eaisly finish this year. Triplet does last year. When she was laying out at my friends barn, she easily looked like she was going to triplet again.............one single buck :) The biggest problem when an older doe does this is that she usually has about that good of a lactation also!
