Got mine too! I've been so busy, I forgot that it was due. It was a nice surprise!

Since we are no longer under the Countryside umbrella, have to say it scares me to death that they are going to ruin Dairy Goat Journal. I always choose Journal over United Caprine News because it was a better "gift" to my customers as they bought animals, I always included at least one Journal, along with all my other information, the Journal was always well rounded and had alot of basic info. Now that it is going to be in a magazine format instead of a journal format, I hope that it doesn't go the way of the homesteady type information on goats. The goat section of Countryside fullfills that spot just fine. Vicki

WAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!! I didn't get mine yet. NOT FAIR!!!!!!!

Well, guess i need to get glasses, didn't see the "New Issue" thread in fine print before i posted mine I got the new issue. So, Vickie, its definately going the way of a magazine format again? Hey, I am not the least bit worried about the DGJ getting killed because you know how POLITICAL the dairy goat world is. Ouchies, can see that now!

H Bernice, I am mostly worried of it going the way of the "reader involved" format that Countryside is. How long you going to take a magazine that is full of nanny and billie articles? I know that sounds, well, snotty, couldn't care less. I hope we are able to keep the quality of writer, the quality of vet, and the quality period that we have in the magazine. If it is going the way of newbie folks information only than I hope they tell us this upfront. Perhaps a reader involved "newbie" section would help with this. I am going to opt for United Caprine News now, and watch the rest of my subscription to Journal to see what happens. It will be fun though especially pre-election time to see what could be slipped by an editor who doesn't know the players :) Perhaps we could invite the editor over to the District 5 list, with Noah running for director and NN sending emails to folks that her life has been threatened :) HA! Vicki

Only you Vicki could get me to laugh so hard, I about literally fell off my chair laughing! Oh gosh, I can see the election coverage now, hey, heads up to dave, it would definately sell a lot of copies if the district 5 soap was in there and the struggle and lies, now thats political:):)

Yeah, the magazine could go the way of "billy's" and "Nannys" but hopefully the thousands who read it will keep information on track when they open it up and graon and then complain. I hope Dave has nerves of steel for those folks! I'd like to see more reader written articles on informative issues, practices, etc.

I also think I best get out the pitch fork and shovel with the political campaign ads, its gonna get deep, will make excellent fertalizer though

In all honesty, were it not for Harvey's judging classes, I'd have stopped my DGJ subscription long ago. Yes there are a couple of interesting columns, but somehow, it needs...something more. Being an ornery sort, I wouldn't mind a little discussion of management and controversial issues, pros and cons on the Nigerians, anyone?? ;-)

Oh dear... The goat breeders will make the C-Side subscribers look tame, methinks!

-- Rebekah (daniel1@itss.net), April 09, 2002.

Oh Boy rebekah, you sure are stirring the pot now, too funny, now prro dave would ahve to have a magazine the size of an encylpoedia when the nasty comments and remarks start. And don't forget the sables too, or the ADGA checkbook, man, the first few issues would sell like hotcakes then!

Yep, I agree that the new DGJ needs something a bit more and I believe that if Dave can provide a political vent page or section that magazine will be a gold mine for sure. I sure wuould add my 2 cents, hint hint dave:):)

How about a "Director Speaks" column, considering our District 6 directors are voiceless :) Course District 5 needs it's own column with paragraphs just for "What really happened at convention, what was the most popular alcholic beverage, and who did Noah really scream at. Or a column "How the Nigerian got her coat color". Or a place for them to be registered via snapshots like they were in the past? Course I had better shut my mouth or I will be getting death threats like NN :) Vicki

-- Vicki McGaugh TX (Nubians) (vickilonesomedoe@hotmail.com), April 09, 2002.

Yep, better watch out for the death threats now! I can't tell you how clogged some of my friends' hard drives and floppys are with,"The Noah Files!" Noah vows to get revenge against those who he says "crossed him!" He is saving e-mails, well, at this case he may need a super puter and super disks to file all that information. Heck he is running for director and then creates more heavily moderated lists.

To tell ya the truth I am embarrassed to have him connected to district 5 at all.
