How old should manure be before you put it in your garden?

Adequately composted manure will have the same tempature within the pile as on the outside. Avoid manure that comes from animals that were recently wormed in that the drugs can kill your benifical worms. Dog droppings are not suitable for gardens.

geez, mitch,,, another thoughtfull answer for you again,,,,,, Cindy,,it all depends on what type of manure. Chicken,, needs to be well compotsed, rabbits manure can be applied without composting, cow,,depends on the crop, horse, shoudl be composted alittle first.

As Stan said it depends on the manure. Typically the pelletized manure does not need to compost and can be used directly on or around the plants/garden. All others if just left in pasture or corral should wait a year or more. If you activally compost them is will be a shorter time.

Sheep, llama, goat, and rabbit can go right on. Others need composting. A year is good, less if you turn the pile fairly often.
