pig crap

Our neighbor's pigs now have diarea and I saw a long worm that was red/pink in the pen a little bigger than a nightcrawler, and foamy looking stuff. They recently seperated the sow and boar and added two free lame factory hogs to the boar's pen. What do you think is happening? I think they should never have mixed the factory pigs in.

Sounds like roundworms. Be careful as they can infect humans as well. (I got them in the Peace Corps in Tuvalu.) Normal wormers for ascarids should take care of them.

Go to the Feed store and buy some Pig Wormer or call the Vet and have him worm them. That will clear up the the tape worm problem.

It's always wise to quarantine new stock for 2-4 weeks away from your old stock.

Sometimes when folks take in free critters, it winds up costing them more than if they had purchased good stock.
