For Irene.........

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Irene, I read your post from Tuesday. I just want you to know that I respect and cherish every word you write. You remind me of my own mother. So maybe just to cheer you up, I wrote you a song. It is sung to the tune of “Goodnight Irene” (you know that tune, dontcha? You’ve probably heard Bob Wills, Earnest Tubbs or Woody Guthrie sing it)

(Let me tune up this here gee-tar)

Irene, you’re right
Irene, you’re right
You’re right, Irene,
You’re right, Irene,
I'll see you in my dreams.

Last Tuesday night I saw your post,
Just before I settled down,
Now me and my friends are all hurtin’,
We’re wearin’ misearble sad ol’ frowns.

Sometimes I live in the country,
Sometimes I live in town,
Irene if you ever leave us,
We’ll jump in the river and drown.

You’re right Irene, you’re right.
You’re right Irene, you’re right.
You’re right Irene, you’re right Irene
I'll see you in my dreams.

Stop your ramblin'
Stop your gamblin'
Stop surfin’ the web late at night
Go home to your grandkids and family
Stay there by your fireside bright.

Irene is a sweet and caring gal
We love her with all of our heart
She’s always willing to lend a helpin’ hand
Please dear God never let her depart.

I love Irene, God knows I do,
I'll love her till the seas all run dry
But if Irene should ever leave me,
I'd eat lutefisk and die.

Irene, you’re right
Irene, you’re right
You’re right, Irene,
You’re right, Irene,
I'll see you in my dreams.

My goodness, Cabin fever that is so great. I am printing it off. Eat Lutefisk and die, I ate tons of Lutefisk when I was a kid, I bet hardly no one even knows what it is, Except Swedish people. I grew up with the Swedish people, And we ate Pickled Hareing. A raw fish, cut in chunks and put in a brine with chopped onions. Your so sweet Cabin Fever, I will continue to post, I love you all.
