How many places do we have and who is in line to scoop them?
Champions League Qualification
There are four places for English clubs
This will not increase even if Manchester United or Liverpool win the Champions League and finish in the top four places in the FA Premier League as UEFA rules maintain that the maximum number of places per country is four.
UEFA Cup
There are three places for English clubs : 1 place to the Worthington Cup winners (Blackburn) 1 place for the 5th placed team in the FA Premier League 1 place to FA Cup winners (Arsenal, Middlesbrough, Fulham, Chelsea)
Here comes the science bit…. If the winners of the F.A. Cup had already qualified for Europe but the runners up had not, then those runners up would take the UEFA Cup place. If both the F.A. Cup winners and the runners up had already qualified for Europe, the UEFA Cup place for the FA Cup would then revert to the next placed (sixth) team in the Premier League.

WHICH MEANS THAT WE ARE AT LEAST IN THE UEFA CUP, AND SO ARE LEEDS AND CHELSEA. AND ONE OF US IS IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.

OK,we may have cleared this up on another thread but here`s what`s bothering me: 1.Arsenal 2.Liverpool 3.Chelsea 4.Newcastle 5.Man United But Man United win the Champions League. Do we go in as the 4th English entrant or do Man United get to defend their title with us missing out?

OK, I`m going to answer my own question. This isn`t really a concern as Chelsea can only draw level with Man United at best, and Man united have a much better goal difference.

The winners of the CL get automatic entry. If they also qualified throught their league then their place is NOT reallocated. So we get a maximum of 4 whatever happens
