"The avoidance of taxes is the only pursuit that still carries any reward."

Attributed to: John Maynard Keynes (1883-1946), British economist.

"It has made more liars out of the American people than golf."

Will Rogers (1879-1935), U.S. actor and humorist. Referring to income tax.

"Death and taxes and childbirth! There's never any convenient time for any of them!"

"The taxpayer is someone who works for the federal government but doesn't have to take a civil service examination."

Attributed to: Ronald Reagan (1911- ), U.S. motion-picture actor and president.

"The Congress will push me to raise taxes and I'll say no, and they'll push, and I'll say no, and they'll push again. And I'll say to them, read my lips: no new taxes."

I got it Mitch!!! With 4 kids we don't pay much either. BUT I know the day is coming when we will. I do taxes for so many people whose kids are now gone, and boy do they pay. Single people especially get hit HARD... I feel sorry for most of them...

There is one difference between a tax collector and a taxidermist. The taxidermist leaves the hide.

From some of these responses it sounds like I'm supporting more than my own family with the fruits of my labors.

I know Gary. There are so many credits for families, but not much t help the single person. Believe me I look for them... and when people come and say I heard they are doing such and such and I have to say, sorry it doesn't apply to you, I just hate it. But being in business there are a lot of legitiamte deductions, so that helps a lot. I hate to pay that self-employment tax myself...

I hate paying that self-employment tax, too. I waited until today to give up the $$$. Soooo many things I coulda done with that sweat of my brow! I work contract labor and have to file that way, so was left out of the big "rebate" last year. (Thank u dubya) Am hoping they will apply it to this year's filing, if so, then I may get a refund for a change!
