Making Homemade TV Turkey Dinners

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

We just got through cooking a turkey and dressing. Tomorrow we will cut slices of turkey and add dressing cover with gravy. We freeze these in small rubbermade containers. You can add mashed potatoes, too. You can re warm these in the Microwave( I don't even defrost)I use the defrost cycle first. Then cook on high, till warm. Add cranberry sauce and dinner roll and you have a great meal.

good idea! I love anything that makes getting a meal on the table eaiser. Especially on the weekends, we are so busy!!! It is hard to cook nutritious, from scratch meals in a hurry. I like to freeze turkey in family sized portions. Also any leftovers get frozen and used on weekends.

Even tho its just the wife and I we try to cook more that just 2 portions as its easyer to cook for 6 or 4 that 2. When we cook stuffed peppers we put the extras in a frezer bag,,2 at a time. The same goes for when we make chille its frozen in wallie world special plastic containers. There are so many things we found that do well this way. Another is Beef stew make a BIG pot of it and freze it in what ever size u want to reuse. We seldome have enough leftovers for the dog to even get a smell.

God Bless.

I invested in some of the rubbermaid type divided containers. I do this alot for my son who is very picky about what he eats.( Picky as in I have spoiled him and he won't eat anything not homemade!!!!!). I can send these with him when he goes any where or just heat when I am busy. This is wonderful thing!!!!!!!!!!!!
