What's the kind of life you envision yourself having? If anything was possible, what would you be doing, or what kinds of things would you be involved with?

The only thing I know about the perfect life is that it's one in which I'm happy. Lately I'm having very domestic leanings, so I reckon I'd really like to be married, have a couple of kids, and live in a house somewhere on the edge of town, preferably one that had a sunroom/greenhouse and sat on a body of water. If anything were possible, I'd like a job like freelance writing, where I could stay home with my babies and not have to send them to daycare. But the career part is the haziest section of my perfect life. It's what I'm trying to figure out right now. English professor? Lawyer? Librarian?

In my perfect life, I'm an RN working in the morning/day shift in labor and delivery. I live somewhere sunny in a house with a view, or a pool, at least. I'm going to copy Jaimee's idea about the sunroom too, because those are neat.

In my perfect life, I'm married to someone I love so much that others make fun of how cute we are, and have a family. When I'm not working, I'll be busy making dress-up costumes for my kids and anyone else, making dorky scrapbooks, and doing live-study drawings on the beach. I'd also be an avid traveler and will have seen different areas of the world and put slideshows fn my travels on for Jaimee and other friends in my home theater. (Heh.) In my perfect life, I'd also be a contributor to causes I believe in, such as cancer and multiple sclerosis research, helping the children of third world nations, and preventing violence against women and children.

More than anything, I think true happiness lies in the family. I hope someday to have some sort of successful career of course, but that's all secondary to first getting married, being a good husband to my wife, having children of my own, and being a good father , role-model and teacher for them. It would be nice if I were financially secure enough to buy myself a big log cabin in the mountains or countryside- I too would have a sunroom on my dreamhouse; we had one added on to my old house in Bremerton when I was in High school. I want to eat healthy and exercise until I'm old. I want to travel and see the rest of the world. Maybe someday I'll end up back in Japan. Whenever I have kids of my own, I plan to get a bunch of legos like I had when I was a kid and have 'lego parties' like my family used to. And.....this entry is plenty long enough as it is. I'll leave it at that for now. Gomen ne, nagaisugiru.

RE: Michael's answer

What a sweet answer! Maybe if I'm lucky and get rid of my Old Maid curse, I'll marry someone like you, because those are the kinds of traits in a person I can see myself growing old with. Someone loves and enjoys his family, and not spending long hours at work (or going in on your day off) only to come home grumpy.

If you still want to go on the road trip with me to southern California later this year, we could stop by the LegoLand that just opened up. It's about 10 minutes away from where my aunt lives. And if you ever need a travel companion to Japan, you know who to call. I can be your tagalong companion, in case you miss having someone around you 24-7 in Japan.
