Contrast Filters on a Focomat 1c

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I remember seeing a post about using contrast filters under the Focotar lens on a Focomat 1c, but I can't seem to find the info now. The filter adapter gets in the way of the lens holder, so I'm trying to figure out how to mount the filter below the lens.Any suggestions?

Chris: I took a piece of 1/8" aluminum plate and cut it to fit under the lens and mount in a hole behind and under the lens. Using a hole saw I cut an aperature about the size of the Kodak VC filters. The bracket is also painted with flat black paint. I mounted it to the enlarger using an unused hole behind and below the lens that accepted a 6mm x 10mm bolt. The VC filters set on top of the bracket and work quite well. If you would like a picture of said bracket, let me know.

Not directly an answer to the question you asked, but haven't I heard of people lifting the lamp housing and dropping the filters on top of the condensor? If it's easy enough, that sounds like a good strategy.

I received an e-mail from Belgium that wanted a picture, but their e- mail address bounced. Please resend your request with a valid address in the body of the text.
