because!!

-- Don Armstrong (darmst@yahoo.com.au), April 16, 2002.

If you were one of the posters getting "slammed", it probably was very offensive. Damn close to a personal attack.

-- Joe (CactusJoe001@AOL.com), April 16, 2002.

LOL! I like your answer Don!

-- cowgirlone in ok (cowgirlone47@hotmail.com), April 16, 2002.

I saw it a different way than offensive. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought it was kind of teasing and silliness among ourselves. If someone was offended, I'm sorry, as I don't think that it was meant that way. I'm also trusting Chucks judgement on it. He is a very busy man who really doesn't have time to ponder each post.

Okay, who's going to fill the rest of us in??

-- Bren (wayoutfarm@skybest.com), April 16, 2002.

I'm lost , so you ask what else is new ????? Guess I missed something.

-- Patty Gamble (fodfarms@hotmail.com), April 16, 2002.

Hay, I know,... we need a site for deleted post !!!!! so we can all know every body's business!!!!

I'm teas'n'.....it made me wonder about what I missed too.

-- Thumper/inOKC (slrldr@yahoo.com), April 16, 2002.

maybe the joke was on you this time?

-- lol (lol@lol.com), April 16, 2002.

Stan what was the deal? Is someone going to tell us or do we all sit here and just make wild guesses?

I know we can start the favorite cereal rant again! I'm a granola person.

I saw a pointless, unfunny message about manure & a religious segment. Some people were starting to complain & jump on _that_ bandwagon. I complained a bit about all the complainers, be nice if we were all adults... What happened after that I have no idea.

If that is what Stan is talking about, good ridence to the thread, IMHO Chuck made a good call. Let's let that one be at that.

The people on the auto-update list get copies before things are deleted don't they?????

Or maybe a mulitple choice, fill in the blank, answer for every thing,

someone said, (a)"*******" (b)"^^^^^^^^" (c)"????????" and then someone else, (a)"[#####} (b)"@@@@@@@@" (c)"!?!?!?!?!" and so on,

then we could just figure it out from there.

Well, I better go rake my yard or something before I get too involved, and ride the gossip train to far down the track. I kinda have the feeling of walking into a room after a big argument, and no one is speaking.......it's sort of creepy....

-- Thumper/inOKC (slrldr@yahoo.com), April 16, 2002.

Thanks Paul, we posted at the same time, but it is nice to have some idea what was going on.

-- Thumper/inOKC (slrldr@yahoo.com), April 16, 2002.

Would you like a "special site" for deleted threads? It could be done by simple download and moving. We all know what type of stuff gets the attention of the "Big D Key". When we see one that qualifies it could be moved and deleted here and anyone that wants could go to the "D" KEY Board" and offend, rant, complain and be offended to their hearts content. Of course it would need no moderator, because there would be no need to quell disagreements as the board would be specifically set up for bashing, mud slinging and discussional blood baths. I even have the perfect name for the board, "The LandFill". Mean feelings and hurt feelings would no longer matter, they would all be at the landfill :>)

Well thats enough satire for now. I figure Chucks doing the best he can, just like any other moderator would with a crowd like us and I like Golden Crisp and Cap'n Crunch mixed (maybe thats why I stay up all night long :>) If you want a site for deleted posts it can be done, but would it really make a difference or make anyone feel better? Lets go get a bowl of cereal.

BTW my cup raised okra plants transplanted to my garden with 100% survival and all 200 plants are standing tall and proud.

Ok, here's the skinny.

Late last night/early this AM someone wishing to create a controversy posted a statement about waste products of animals and linking the smell to an ethnic group of people found in regions where there is much sand.

Then a forum member suggested the poster was a tad short on brains, and another screams for Chuck to delete it as it was "offensive" to that poster. SS says Chuck is guilty of leaving other offensive stuff, why get rid of this, and previous poster says it could go elsewhere on Lusenet, but is irrelevant on this forum, and P and JB both suggest in less or more words to ignore it.

Next SS starts a thread as to why, and then many are curious as to what the why means.

Ain't that interestin'.

Hmmm - those who knew-still know - - - - - those who fell victim to the mighty sword of censorship- - - - -without opportunity to complain or ignore- - - seem to wish they knew/know. Is there a lesson here?

Oy vey...double oy vey! I didn't see THAT post! I thought it was about the B.A.R.F post. Poor taste will always be poor taste. Okay...I got a funeral to go to and a cake to bake. Behave now...

-- Ardie/WI (ardie54965@hotmail.com), April 17, 2002.

Actually, I didn't scream for it to be deleted. I asked very nicely. I would ask that it be deleted again if I saw it again. I really don't believe in ethnic slamming. It's irrelevant here. And unnecessary. As homesteaders we get enough bashing. And this fellow "Hector" was trying to incite problems that have no reason to exist here. I've wasted enough of Chuck's and my energy entertaining the notion the posting had value.

Any moderater will not please all the people all the time. Chucks doing fine unless you want to bring Ken back.

-- John in Mn. (nospam@mywork.com), April 17, 2002.

Oh, is THAT what this is about. I looked at it, thought about contacting Chuck but then decided he'd be getting inundated anyway, noted it so I wouldn't look at it again, and went my way. The fact that it's gone hadn't registered - didn't need to. I would only have noticed it if it was still there. It really was in EXTREMELY poor taste.

-- Don Armstrong (darmst@yahoo.com.au), April 17, 2002.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, there are other forums if you want to cuss and discuss OTHER situations. I think we saw a post from Hector that incited much mirth and glee at the insinuations. That's the way we should deal with any overtly offensive person. Don't you think? Leave it to us to guffaw and grin at offensive behavior so that the instigator is thoroughly embarassed at not gettin the response he/she expected?
