Praise to P. Greenspungreenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread |
tony and phil, you both obviously have a passion for our paid and unpaid hobby.
is this a non-profit forum? how do you afford all the storage space for 300,000 and counting photos and critiques?
how can we help support this (subscription to keep out the riff-raff?)? sign me up.
this is a great service for us all and should be an embarassment to those who abuse this free privelidge.

You mean like expensive green fees? That always keeps the riff-raff away. Of course just because you can afford the fees doesn't necessarily mean you can golf...:)

Philip Greenspun wrote all the software for the LUSENET Q&A forums, and (at least at the time) donated all the space for free. Not sure now how free it is. Note that this forum, a part of the greenspun.com domain, isn't part of photo.net. They are two separate services.

Speaking of nice things that are free, today's ARIZONA REPUBLIC (Phoenix) reports: "From free to fee: E-mail part of growing Net trend." Yahoo will now be $19.99/yr, if you sign up now; $29.99 after April 24. MSN/Hotmail says they're not thinking of eliminating free e-mail now, "But who knows what can happen down the line?", says Parul Shah, who is in charge at MSN/Hotmail. If a thing is good, enjoy it while you can! If Hotmail ever does charge for e-mail, they better find a way to control spam. One of my accounts got 110 over nite!

Yes - kudos to Greenspun and Rowlett. Just wish the forum was hosted on a server which wouldn't crash for days every couple of weeks... :?(

...and was easily searchable. But really - this is a great forum!

I'm happy to add my contribution of atta-guys to the heap of accolades. This is an excellent, well-managed forum, and it's greatly appreciated.

Ditto to Ralph!

and was easily searchableActually, I've hacked an okay solution to this. See the search box(es) I have at the bottom of every page of the Leica FAQ at nemeng.com/leica - just select the Greenspun Leica forum option in the search popup menu. Works pretty well, although because the lookups are done via Google, it can lag a few days behind what's currently online.
