Are we entering a new era of persecution?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Maybe I am being too pesimistic, but I always fail to stay optimistic averytime I read the news in EWTN and other such sites.

Look at this article:

Catholics being persecuted in Asia or Africa in muslim countries are no news, but what I read about facts in US, Russia and European countries make me feel as if we were entering a huge persecution era. John Paulīs reformation af the Church, after the abuses commited in the name of "the spirit of the Counsil" is makink the Devil real furious...

Brothers Catholics... be prepared...

God have mercy.

Yes. The 21st century will have many Catholic martyrs -- some red, some "white" -- throughout the world, especially in the U.S. and Europe. In these places, real Catholics are on fire for the faith, but are in such a minority that they will be beaten with weapons and words in a frenzy of hatred.
Let us pray to remain faithful.

I see the persecution of Catholics as a continuum.

It seems as though there has never been a worldwide "lull" in Catholics laying down their lives for their Faith, never an era when Catholics everywhere have enjoyed the freedom to practice.

Reading the accounts of the martyrs is both inspiring and frightening. Lord, increase our Faith...
