A reason to keep working

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

I went out to my land with a friend of mine the other evening. I just needed to measure something on my flatbed trailer. That took all of a minute because as soon as we walked up to it I was able to just 'eyeball' it and tell my plan wouldn't work.

We were talking and sat down on the trailer. In a couple of minutes we were quiet and just looked and listened. We looked at the stars and listened to the critters rustling in the underbrush and some passing traffic on the road out front and the highway a mile or so away and enjoyed the peace and tranquility.

I guess it takes some moments like that to make the days pushing snow in sub-zero winds or standing in the 90 degree sun pounding nails bearable.
