Advice from uncle jess on the simple life

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Having recently attained the age of half a century,I would like to respectfully and humbly, submit to the readers and,the world in general,a few thoughts of the maney i have ,on living the simple, and dignifyed life.

1 A good hedge or bush fence tends to help make and keep good neighbors.A good neighbor is one who is oft seen but rarely heard from.A friendly wave often, but long personal conversations, never.A few enemys there will be,at 50,but do whatever it takes to not combine the two.

2.The simple country gentleman, will at all costs avoid crowds. He prefers not to shop at the big home improvment stores on saturdays. He will instead go on fri. nite after supper, when the store is all stocked, hardly anyone around, He will also avoid central Florida, and places like that. All thoose people, all the cars.

3.The SCG has learned that a dog that barks all night ,and sleeps allday ,is no good.He will look into it,if he surmises, there is a real danger that makes the dog bark, he will deal with it ,or pull his tent and move. Life's too short to share with a bad dog. Note, The above may ,or may not apply, to raising teenagers.

Thank you, Uncle Jess, but please recongize that there are a lot of Great Uncles who have been posting here a lot longer than we have seen you, I am from Winter Garden, 8 miles west of Orlando, downtown central Florida; respect here is earned, not implied.

Well said Mitch. It's amusing when these youngsters come to show us the wheel that they just invented. :-) (just learned the meaning of that symbol. Old dog, new trick)

You are so right.50 is not old for a tree,or for me.But i do wish I knew at 25 what I do now. Thanks .always meet a smile with a smile. That keeps a person from getting old and bitter,at the same time.
