Giving kids water

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Dairygoats : One Thread

When can you put a bucket of water in with the kids? My two (so far) are bottle fed and I do give them warm water in the bottle after their milk. They're about 3 wks old. Can I stop the bottle water and just give them a bucket or is this to early?

I think you can give them water in a bucket. The bucket should be one that they cannot fall or climb into and drown.

Hi Danielle. Maybe it's because my kids are mom nursed, but they find the water bucket on their own usually within ten days. I agree that probably just putting a bucket out there is fine. I wouldn't think they would need the water warmed up by the way, especially at three weeks old.
