Is Anyone Else Feeling Abandoned

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Does anyone else have a spouse that spends so much time discussing issues with this forum that there is no time left for their rrelationship? I have a friend who's spouse is on this forum for at least 16-18 hours a day, leaving no time for their relationship. Is this normal? Is this a temporary thing? Can someone advise me so I can talk to my friend about this? Thank you for your help.

Abandoned,
It sounds like your "friend's" husband has gotten into a bit of an obsessive/compulsive behavior. This sort of thing does not necessarily just go away. A few hours with an addictions specalist might be just the ticket so to make time spent at the computer reasonable.
Like anything else though, he has got to want to make a change.
Your "friend" should begin with sharing how abandoned and hurt she feels that she has lost his company.
Good Luck to you and your family.

This is very sad to read of a person who will allow the world to go by as he delves into Christ's message of life. Would it not be healthier and Godly to live the life as appossed to analysing it? " Walk the walk and not talk the talk" I find is real.

Drop the guy as he is need of long term counciling with who knows what the end result would be.

How does this person make money?

I think abandoned is having fun with us. Somebody in here is making the jealousy he/she feels about another poster's frequent contributions come out with that complaint. It's a way of raining on somebody's parade.

Speaking as a participant over the length of the day, I could qualify for the reproach. But my lovely wife is hardly ''abandoned''. We are separated during most of the work-day. She is employed and I'm retired, and she arrives home each evening to her cocktail and a nice dinner. Our happiness is doubly reinforced for us in the sacraments; and a Holy Hour we attend together on Friday evenings.

She'll usually ask what happened during the day? I tell her all about our forum; and she'll read the more interesting posts. She isn't as hooked as I am, but she approves wholeheartedly of this great pastime.

Now, WHO could the real abandoner of abandonee BE???

A. being a retiree

B. Wife works. Does not come home for about 9 hours. And we take off most of the time during the week ends.

C. 16-18 hours. Not me I may see 10 hours more or less. But 18, Never.

D. My wife has also contributed to this forum and has read most, if not all of it too during the morning and evening.

E. I have verified this fact. It is not me. So Dennis shut your trouble making yap. No wonder you have such a lonely life. I have noticed you being here a lot more than most of us constantly stirring up trouble along with your wiccan girlfriend. So bug off over educated bird brain. Your logical brain failed again. Besides that you have broken one of God's own commandments today by labeling me.

Forgot one more thing. I DO spent considerable time cooking all of the meals for her to enjoy and she gets to cook on the weekends the breakfast meals. And we DO share the chores of Mowing and trimming our yard. Also the Bike rides too. That is the best part. I love to feel her hands on my back as we ride.

Okay.......I'll admit, I may be addicted to this forum, but not at the expense of my children and husband. And certaintly not 18 hours a day!! Gosh....I don't think I even hit a total of 8 hours in a day. Fred, you and Eugene have me beat! LOL :-)

BTW Fred......While I am fessing up to things; I am a little envious of you and Carolyn enjoying the the freedom of the open road!!! With young kids, motorcycles are no longer a joy......we have downsized to dirtbikes and ATV's. :-)

God Bless this forum,

You want to get more jealous? I just booked a Vacation for next March to St Martin next March and we are going next October to boot and we just came back from Mexico last month. Talk about hitting it right. It took a lifetime of struggle to get here and now we intent to enjoy it as long as we are healthy. GOD Willing.

Jean, you said,

Drop the guy as he is need of long term counciling

The poster was talking about a *spouse*, are you REALLY advocating a divorce for internet use? What would Christ say about THAT philosophy?

I agree BTW that this is an offhand "joke", but your solution suprised me.

Okay Fred.......that definitly put the icing on the cake!!

The furthest I've been since the children is up north (Maine, N.H., Vermont). Just last week went to Meridith N.H. with the kids. Jealous!?! Took a ride to Weirs Beach too, but the Arcades weren't open yet.

Anyway.......my time will come too I suppose, when my husband and I can enjoy traveling again!

Definitly enjoy it while you can.

BTW......My son has a fixation (spelling?) with Mexico. He is just dying to visit there. Someday we will take him. He has quite a fascination with the history. He is even teaching himself the spanish language. God love him.

God Bless,

Kathy

Tell him the Mexicans have near Cancun, real pyramids that he can actually see. They are the Mayan/Tolmec ruins of Chichen Itza. I have been there twice and I took my wife there this past February. She is anxious to go back again to see even more of it as soon as possible. There are more of these type of ruins throughout Mexico, in fact Mexico City actually sits right on top of an Inca City that from what I have heard was the most powerful nation of it's time before the Spanish. It is currently being rediscovered by archeologists now. Tell him to keep studying and with patience he will see probably a lot more than I will. It is simply gorgeous. Not a pile of rocks but rich old ancient history. You can almost feel them still living there.

Blessings.

Yes, Fred., thank you, I will tell him........I'll bet he already knew!! He is fascinated with ancient history, but has a thing about Mexico!!
