Today, April 25, we members of the Catholic Church family honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- saints whose souls are now in heaven:

St. Mark [also known as John Mark] (Israelite, relative of St. Barnabas, companion of St. Paul, evangelist, martyred in Egypt c. 68-75)
St. Anianus of Alexandria (Egyptian, shoemaker, disciple of St. Mark, bishop, 1st century)
Bl. Boniface of Valperga (Italian, Benedictine monk, Augustinian prior, bishop, d. 1243)
St. Erminus of Lobbes (French, Benedictine monk, bishop, d. 737)
Sts. Evodius, Hermogenes, and Callistus (early martyrs)
Bl. Giovanni Battista Piamarta (Italian, priest, d. 1913 [beatified 1997])
St. Heribald of Auxerre (French, Benedictine abbot, bishop, c. 857)
St. Kebius (French?, missionary bishop in British Isles, 4th century)
St. Macaille of Croghan (Irish, bishop, c. 489)
St. Mella of Doire-Melle (Irish, widow, abbess, c. 780)
St. Phaebadius of Agen (French, bishop, opposed Arian heresy, c. 392)
Sts. Philo and Agathopodes (Syrian, disciples of St. Ignatius, deacons, c. 150)
St. Robert of Siracusa (Sicilian, Benedictine abbot, c. 1000)
Bl. Robert Anderton and Bl. William Marsden (English, priests, martyred [drawn, hanged, quartered] by Elizabethans in 1586 [beatified 1929])
St. Stephen of Antioch (Syrian, patriarch, opposed Monophysite heresy, martyred by heretics at the altar in 481)

If you have anything to share about these holy people, please reply now -- biographical episodes, prayers through their intercession, the fact that one is your patron saint -- whatever moves you. If you are interested in one of these saints and want to find out more about him/her, please ask. Information is sometimes available on the Internet.

All you holy men and women, saints of God, pray for us.
God bless you.
John
