domestic male abuse

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Domestic Violence Accounts : One Thread

I have a pen pal who is serving a term in a California Prison for defending himself against a very abusive woman. He would like to get his story out. He does not have access to a computer in the prison he would like me or someone else to do it for him. How do I do that? He is a very intellent man who before being sentenced on bogus charges passed the Califoraia Bar exam to become an Attorney. He works daily on his appeal. He's a young man who weighs maybe 165 pounds. She's a woman who weighs about 300 pounds. She stalked him and eventually broke into his home. He slept with a gun. When she started to attack him, he grabbed for the gun in self defense. He shot and the bullit grazed her. So now he's in prison. It's a long story that has alot to do with politics. If he can put his story on your site, we all would be very thankful. Please let me know. Thanks, Ann Hammack

Politics has screwed a lot of men and put them in jail. Since he is studying to become a lawyer, has he considered suiing her or anyone in the justice system? I'm sure SAFE would let you post the story.

Perhaps he could write you a letter from prison, and you could post his message in this thread.

If he were to start a book with his story, others could contribute. We also need to have someone organize a credible panel discussion in the most public forum possible. Perhaps Oprah would be interested in shifting her women only format to include the good men that make women's lives better and have suffered terribly as a result. This amounts to gender slavery.

If he wants to get his story out, I agree with T. Deal: he should have a book written. But using a ghost writer (a person hired to write a book for you) would prove a lot quicker, and maybe publish before he is released from prison. Even while the concept sounds nice and I don't mean to be a spoil sport, I can't help but doubt Oprah having any part in this. (No offense meant). Hmm...that is a horrible situation...just know that your friend is in my prayers...

You will be glad to hear that Oprah did a complete show on abused men by their wives. It was a couple of years ago and she said that she had been trying to do the show for years but was having trouble getting men to come forward. It was a great, important show. My respect for Oprah was amplified greatly after that. Ron (john #1)

Does anyone remember the name of the organization in Canada that was for Battered Men. I did a report on it about 5yrs ago, and have since lost the report and can not remember the name of the group. My heart goes out to you, the battered boyfriends, husbands, and mates, or partners. I work for a battered womens group and have seen both sides of the coin throughout my lifetime. When is it ever going to stop? When everyone is dead? God help us all.
