So how DID the truck get in the creek? : LUSENET : Freedom! self reliance : One Thread

Hi folks. The joys of owning old junker trucks are never ending. I've had this S-10 for 6 years now. Not much works on it except the bare basics. It's been worth every bit of the $400.00 bucks I paid for it.

I got out this morning and threw a bunch of stuff in the back to haul out to the barn. Figured I should haul a couple buckets of water out to the critters instead of carrying it. Smart boy. So I pull the truck up along the house and leave it running to warm up while I fill the buckets up.

Did I mention it doesn't have an emergency Brake?

Yep, I heard this odd "Thump". There it was nosed in the creek that runs behind the house. It had rolled about 35', so it had enough momentum to make it over the bank and down. This is only a little creek and thank goodness it only has a little water in it right now. It did look pretty funny. I wish I'd of gotten a picture.

Well, I just couldn't get mad about it. All I could do was laugh. Normally, this sort of thing would've set me off but good. Maybe it's because it's Spring.

I got the tractor out and pulled it out w/o any difficulty. Didn't even get wet. Now here was the tricky part. I had to rake up the area there to clean up the marks. Then I cut the grass back there to hide the rest of it. The wife isn't home see. If it rains before she makes it home tomorrow- she may never get a chance to laugh at her fool husband!

Have missed you folks while my computers been down.

I had a F150 that "climbed" a tree once. Actually, a friend backed it off a moutainside ledge road and the tree broke the fall

I'll bet my truck was easier to get out of the creek than yours was to get out of the tree! Now that would be worth hearing about.

snickersnickersnicker. I was wonderiong you were, but I never would have guessed you were up a creek so close to home!

I knew this guy who used to chuck his tire with a chainsaw because his old truck didn't have an emergency brake. It didn't have enough compression left either-to hold it on a grade. Than one day he forgot and had to throw the chainsaw in the creek !

I saw him just this morning. Don't you just hate mirrors ?

Thats a good one, I have to remember that.

It took a crane truck and a tree service bucket truck to ground the old ford.
