Oh Rick, I just saw it and thought it was so funny and so STRANGE!! I could not imagine that you had done such a thing. HAS THE WHOLE WORLD GONE MAD???!!! I am almost hysterical laughing!!! I just love all of you so much!!! We are going to have such fun here now...

-- Melissa in SE Ohio (me@home.net), May 04, 2002.

Sure looks likes Stan, doesn't it?!? Rick, why don't you report the incident to Lusenet! I mean, he is using your name - surely they have some policy against a moderator assuming someone else's identity? Stan is really giving me the SPOOKIES here lately.

-- Cheryl in KS (klingonbunny@planetkc.com), May 04, 2002.

I have a line drawn in my mind. If it get's crossed, I'll make a report.

I do have a valid gripe already I suppose, as the moderator there intercepted my disclaimer for "THAT" board, and transposed it into their own words complete with the changed phony hotmail address (isn't that against LUSENET'S policies?)

Anyway, to quote Ardie "oy vey".

-- Rick in Southwest WV (Rick_122@hotmail.com), May 04, 2002.

Even spookier...........now the character has deleted the "disclaimer" altogether.

-- Rick in Southwest WV (Rick_122@hotmail.com), May 04, 2002.

Just so you can see how far out there Stan is, I have to share this with you. I have received a BUNCH of emails from him. I emailed him back and said that although I would be praying for him, I would no longer communicate with him nor discuss the last few days events because any attempts at being civil is obviously futile. Here was his reply (copied and pasted just as I received it):

pray for me??? dont even bother,, its a waste of your time, and mine,, but if you choose to waste yours,, be my guest. Very "christain" of you to NOT want to discuss things,, maybe your afraid someone will open your eyes, and see the truth, the world/life as it is,, and not a cloudy narrow sighted view as you see it

I honestly think this is a very disturbed person. That's why I will not communicate with him any further. I really do feel sorry for him because he must be very lonely and be very miserable. He certainly has WAY too much time on his hands to set and think and do all the postings and emailing he is doing. He is truly a very sad man.

-- Karen (mountains_mama2@hotmail.com), May 04, 2002.

I know Karen, I started out trying to e-mail him and be rational, and he seems to swing betwen taunting me for trying to delete him and saying it is not him... I got so mad I just deleted them and quit answering him. He is like a split-personality or something, and quite frankly he scares me a little...

-- Melissa in SE Ohio (me@home.net), May 04, 2002.

He is starting to scare me more than a little, Melissa. I am glad I don't live anywhere near him. I feel very sorry for him, and I will keep praying for him, but he is obviously very very disturbed.

I DON'T know that it was from Stan, but all my problems I've been having (e-mail porno being sent to me) began with the last time he went on a rampage against this forum. In several years of internet use, I had never once been sent a nasty e-mail until then. Now I can't get them to stop.

-- Lenette (kigervixen@nospam.com), May 04, 2002.

Same here, Lenette. I started getting flooded with that stuff during the previous Stan escapade. I figured it was him causing it, but I have no way of proving it. It sure is hard to get it to stop once it's started! Disgusting stuff.

-- Cheryl in KS (klingonbunny@planetkc.com), May 04, 2002.

Gee, Rick,

I just took at look at that forum to see what you were talking about, and I noticed your spelling, punctuation and grammar have really gone to pot lately. You're beginning to sound like someone else we know...

-- Lenette (kigervixen@nospam.com), May 04, 2002.

That's cute Lenette.

I hadn't looked at his posts critically, but you are right.

This really is a sad puppy.

-- Rick in Southwest WV (Rick_122@hotmail.com), May 04, 2002.

Ditto on the porno thing. Mine has recently stopped tho... I fell for the explanation list hook line and sinker.... probably means that the porno will start back up again. I didn't post but I didn't last time either.

Who is this b pepper something-or-another from MS who seems to be taking up for him? Is it you know who in disguise or somebody else I need to avoid?

-- Tana Mc (mcfarm@totelcsi.net), May 04, 2002.

Stan behaves like someone with Bipolar disorder or someone with a head injury..I feel so incredibly sorry for him..he seems totally out of control at times......I remember him way back from 1999, and although he was alwys a tad grouchy, he was NEVER weird.....it is very, very sad/

-- lesley (martchas@bellsouth.net), May 04, 2002.

Oy vey! I've wondered for a long time if Stan wasn't bi-polar too. Or there was something seriously wrong. Unfortunately, there are many lost souls like him out there and they scare the heck of of me. We can only hope that he gets the medical help he needs.

-- Ardie/WI (ardie54965@hotmail.com), May 05, 2002.

I agree with all of you, I think Stan is getting scary! I hope he has family or friends that can get help to him, he sounds dangerous.

-- cowgirlone in ok (cowgirlone47@hotmail.com), May 05, 2002.

I think all these discussions are as painful to read as the original problem.

Who knows what his problem is. It's hard to diagnose mental illness in person let alone through a message board. I don't think Stan has a serious problem like that. Maybe he drinks a bit too much at times or something but I haven't seen anything I'd call schizophrenia.

One thing to consider. For a person that isn't Christian, it's sometimes hard to stomach the prostelyzing and preaching. Not all non-Christians are like that. Just as many Christians are accepting of other faiths without lashing out in defense. If you are a Christian, it will probably be hard to relate to that or will be passed off as someone who doesn't 'see the light'. That's usually why I stay out of these things. I have no problems with anyones chosen faith regardless of what it is.

To a non-Christian, some of those bible verses, etc can be just as offending as a Christain could be offended by reading others faiths dogma. I think that's part of what has Stan upset. It seemed to me that he was using Bible verses to illustrate what he sees as hypocrisy. I have no interest in debating or taking religious sides in anything but rather just pointing out that a big part of his problem may be in controlling his acceptance of others faiths.

This forum is somewhat Christian based. That's fine and it should be no problem for anyone. If it causes them problems, then they shouldn't read it.

I think you're going off on the wrong path to start guessing about mental illnesses. I'd just chalk it up to a person having a hard time controlling their impulses to lash out at what they perceive as hypocrisy. Lack of maturity or an influence like alcohol might be a factor in controlling those impulses.

Mental illnesses like bi-polar(manic depression) and schizophrenia are usually accompanied by other psychoses. They manifest in varying degrees so I think it's pretty futile to try and diagnose anyone through their postings on a message board. Not to mention that what started as an annoyance has turned into a circus show with all the resulting postings, new forums and analysis. If Stan is having some problems, all that surely isn't helping him.

Maybe we should just be glad the problem here is solved and get back to normality.

I've never received any spam/porn from my email being posted on Lusenet. I'd venture to say that your email address got added to a mailing list from somewhere else. If you use your email address to sign up on other sites for newsletters, coupons, etc you will eventually get on a spam mailing list, most of which are porn. Once you get on those lists it'll never go away. Many times if you 'request to be removed', all you're doing is confirming to the spamlist that your email address is active.

If you don't use the maximum privacy settings with hotmail and yahoo email, your address will eventually be harvested by spam lists.

I'm very careful with my email addresses and never get spam to any of them. I do not give it out freely to websites requesting it. I don't sign up for newsletters or other 'free offers'. I don't use my email address to register on websites unless absolutely necessary such as when they need to email you a password. In those cases, I use a 'throw-away' email address. I think you're fairly safe using an email address on Lusenet and would bet your spam is coming from some other place than here.

-- Dave (multiplierx9@hotmail.com), May 05, 2002.

I agree, it is time to move on and make our forum the best it can be...

-- Melissa in SE Ohio (me@home.net), May 05, 2002.

I agree with Melissa. Let's go on. One thing I wanted to mention though. Dave, we're not being nasty regarding Stan. At least I wasn't. I've been very concerned about Stan for a long time. In fact, as long as I've been posting here. And I don't think I've been the only one. As for porn, I've gotten very little and I don't really care about it one way or another since I have a delete button.
