Around here lately

The weather here has moved between raining, warm, sunny, cold, etc... for the last week. It just can't make up its mind I guess. I have planted only lettuce and onions so far. We are going t build raised beds, but have not done it yet. We had a heavy frost the last few nights here.

I did buy a rhubarb plant which I have been wanting for a while. When I was little the woman who took us to church and babysat us, made rhubarb applesauce. It was so good. She froze it and served it very cold. I can't wait to make some for my kids someday.

Today was a nice day. The girls and I went to the library, and they each bought Brady a small gift for his birthday. He will be 9 on Monday. I am trying to think of some kind of design for it. I like to make them different every year.

When I got home, Cale mowed and I ran the weed-eater, and cleaned up the flower beds. The place really looks nice all mowed and trimmed! Then we dug around our pool, we want to fill it with gravel so the weeds don't grow right next to it. Then Cale and I got the area under our picnic shelter ready to pour concrete. We leveled it and put the boards around it. He should be able to pour it this week one day.

This evening we took a drive in the country. Supper was rotini with tomato sauce, cottage cheese, pears and garlic bread, with tea to drink.

It was windy, cloudy and cold this morning, but the sun came out this afternoon. My DH and 2 of my sons were helping a 3rd son move today. Of course it was from out of state and the rain headed there from here so they did have some rainy weather to drive through. I had a sore throat so I didn't go on their moving trip, as when everyone gets together like that, we do have fun. I checked my rhubarb to make sure it was all coming up and I will have a nice batch in a couple of weeks. I can't wait. Hope your new rhubarb does as well as mine has. Since I did not have to cook tonight it was fun watching a decorating show and having a nice bowl of chili with noone talking or interuptions. I don't have those days very often as 3 of us have the same work hours. I thoroughly enjoyed my "Mom's Day Off." as I call it. I even got to spend time on the computer without anyone needing to use it. I miss the days when the boys were little and we went to the library and did things like you are doing now. Wait until I have grandchildren! (Non on the way yet, but I am still thinking about that day) Jennathome

The weather has turned cool here, could even get snow in the mountains by Sunday night. Went out to water the garden and found the potato plants are coming up, I already had some cold weather seeds up. Thats when I love the garden, seeing all the plants growing. I made hamburger soup for supper tonight and froze the left overs. Glad you had a nice day Melissa. May be we should have a roll call and then if we saw someone was missing we could tell you.
