Speaking up at last....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A Country Singletree : One Thread

Hi everyone. My name is Jackie, I've been (I hate that phrase lurking) regularly reading this forum for a while now. I have been a full time student and working more than full time, so I didn't want to contribute until I knew I'd have time to keep up. Today was my last class till summer's over.(Ooh, that felt like highschool to say that!) I lived thru my 44th birthday last week and I've been divorced 4 years. No children of my own, but have raised for up to 3 years a great niece and 2 nephews. I live in the country but lost the homestead to the ex-husband, seemed like a bargain at the time, if you know what I mean. I'm working to get some land and interested in building a strawbale house. Still researching that, I live in the very humid NE Texas. I have really enjoyed visiting here, sorta feel at home without having said a word. That's good.

Welcome Jackie! I'm 44 too and I just graduated from college a year ago. I hear you when you talk about time. I am a single mom of two teen boys and went full time year round to school, didn't work other than a Sunday paper delivery. It is nice to be finished! But, I am thinking of going back, maybe in the fall.

Welcome again, and don't feel like you have to be a full time poster here. We all do what we can.

Welcome to the "Tree". Just a fun little place to hang out. Please don't hate me, I'm one of those "ex husbands that got the homestead", but I let her keep the truck and the "Walk Away Joe" boyfriend :>)

hi Jackie. I"ve lurked here for a while too. Got brave enough to post the other day. I live just north of Houston, and the humidity is HORRIBLE right now. As are the mosquitos. Just horrible. I bought a dehumidifier a couple of weeks ago--small investment that has made a world of difference. If I had my 'druthers, I'd druther live farther north, with less humidity. But, I"m stuck here for a while at least.

Hi Jackie and Welcome. I've been mostly "lurking" (I hate that phrase too.) for the past 3 months. It sounds like you might live around my neck of the woods. I live in Hopkins County, alittle over a hour east of Dallas. What county are you in? It would be nice to meet someone in my area. I think I might be the only one on this forum that lives in Texas.

Oh I forgot, Gardener lives in Texas. Hi Gardener, sorry, I didn't mean to forget about you. Please forgive me.

Hi and welcome. I am in Texas also. A little bit in San Antonio and a little bit in the Hill Country. Congratulations on going to school. I hope you enjoy your summer off. May be humid where you are, but you do have good dirt up there don't you? Nothing but rocks here!!

Hey Carole haven't heard from you in awhile. Maybe you Texas ladies should have a get together like the northern branch of this forum are talking about. Susan (the other one) is it still on, you have been awfully quiet lately.
