Another Computer Question

I have to re-install my operating system. I don't want to lose all the mail in my inbox in Outlook Express. I save certain things that I will need later, etc. How can I save the whole inbox without doing each individual email? Or is it impossible?

My first question is why you need to re-install your operating system? Most problems can be solved without re-install. What sort of problems are you having? Sometimes re-installing opens another can of worms than the original problem because of configeration conflicts.

To save your inbox, you will need to back it up:

1. Select an e-mail folder.
2. On the File menu, point to Folder, and then click Compact.
3. To back up the folder, find the folder file (if you need to know how to do that, let me know), Outlook Express e-mail folders have a .dbx extension (for example, "inbox.dbx"). and then copy it to a backup floppy disk.
