Wednesday morning...

Cloudy, damp and yucky here! But not cold. The weather says that by tomorrow afternoon it should clear up for the weekend!!! That is good news...

Well, all the kid are coughing now...sounds like some kind of odd musical!! Last night we were all coming home, and they were coughing away. I yelled "STOP." Complete silence, then I said, "OK, now everybody cough all at once, then quit for a while!!!!" It was very funny!! So the reason we were out was to go to my dear grandmother's 90th Birthday party. She is such a wonderful lady. She has always been a hard worker, VERY thrifty, and has accomplished a great life. When my grandfather was ill, she took care of him at home until he died. Then the next spring here house burnt down, and she escaped with only her clothes and her purse which she grabbed on the way out the door.

My Dad lives about 1 mile from her,and when we were on our way there yesterday, we saw smoke. Here a house just down the road had burnt down!! My Dad thinks it was from lightening, as there had been some bad storms right about that time. The people had been living there for about 1 year and almost had it all fixed up. What a tragedy...

We also saw 4 big gobbler turkeys all fanned out in a field. They are pretty neat when they are strutting around in the fields.

Today I have preschool. It is our last day. So we are having games, and a pizza party. I bought the kids all books, pencils, and a candy bar as a little treat. I will miss them, but all except one of the kids will be back next year.

Most of you know that I run our local library, and I will start the summer reading program the week after school is out. We have about 50 kids participate. The theme for this year is going to be "Wild About Books" and I think it will be a lot of fun to decorate and come up with ideas for it!!

Tonight Kadia has an Academic Awards banquet, so it a busy day for me. Talk to you all later!

It's cloudy here too, but I am hoping for a nice soaking rain. I finished planting all my garden seeds yesterday except corn and also have the tomato, pepper and eggplant to put in yet. A nice rain would be wonderful. Today is the next to last meeting for the J.A.M.(Jesus and ME) after school club. Going to do a little Bible verse review and final story. Next week we have our party. Sure hope your Grandma doesn't come down with your children's cough. Hope they are all better soon. When my daughter was in Russia they used warm milk with honey as a cough remedy. The kids might like to try that.

Nice rain yesterday morning. It's beginning to cool off here, fall of the year, about time, too!

Getting ready to travel this weekend down south, where it's even colder, to give a seminar. Back on Sunday. Will be Mother's Day here, too.

Have spent lots of time redoing several of my sights, especially Forthright. Then pops up an old college friend by email and offers to help. Where was she a week ago! :-) Still plenty more to do, though. She'll be a welcome hand.

Yet another rainy day here.........laundry needs doing and I feel so deprived when I can't hang it out!! It is bringing us some benefits in the way of morels and asparagus, but I have so much I want to DO OUTSIDE that inside seems very second rate. I am driving up to my daughter's tomorrow; have not seen their new home. Please pray for travel mercies, I sure don't like driving that far but just really need some grandchildren hugs.

Hello Everyone, It rained again this morning. It is nice outside now the sun is shining. I did laundry today but had to dry it inside. We are getting alot of rain her also. I am wondering with all the rain if my girls will be able to take their vegetables for 4-h in time this year. It is really nice hearing everyones stories and comments. I don't post often but really enjoy this forum. Thanks again,

Just got in, a long day today!! This damp, rainy weather makes my bones ache!!! The pre-school party went great, got some nice pictures of my little kids!! It was so funny today when they were washing their hands. We have the bottles of squirt soap, and one of the little girls was putting a very tiny drop on the other kids hands, and very seriously looking at them and saying,"We just need a little drop, we can't waste it, soap costs a lot of money you know!!!" I was laughing inside because I have said this every week, since last September and I guess they were listening!! Even young children can be taught the valuable lesson of frugality!!!

Kadia received an award tonight as National Honor Society Freshman Student of the Month. All of the seniors graduating received their scholarship awards. Our school is not very big, 100 students graduating, and is in a poor rural area, BUT those kids have received over 1/2 million in scholarships!! We have a great guidance office that really helps the kids apply for and get the scholarships they need.

It was nice seeing old teachers and friends tonight, and being in my old school. They are setting up an Academic Wall of Fame, with pictures of all the previous Valedictorians on it, so I guess my picture will soon be hanging there, how embarassing to my kids! I always loved school and I am happy that my kids have such great experiences also.
