We are currently seeking a Sr. Level SQL Server DBA for a contract to hire or permanent/direct opportunity in Overland Park, KS. Max salary is 75K (Non- negotiable).

Definition of Role: The role of the SQL Server DBA encompasses many tasks and responsibilities across several defined areas: Administration, Infrastructure, and Application Databases.

Administration: •Define Hardware Requirements for New SQL Servers and upgrades of existing SQL Servers. •Define Server Build Requirements for SQL Server portion of build and how certain operating system parameters, options, components, etc. need to be configured for a dedicated SQL Server system. •Define QA process for Application Databases on SQL Servers •Assist with Disaster Recovery and Backup Strategy •Install and configure SQL Server software (Selected Edition, OLAP, Analysis Services, English Query, etc.) onto new systems •Monitor SQL servers for errors and performance degradation •Create new hardware/software and Upgrade hardware/software proposals for customers. •Upgrade existing SQL Server software to newer versions and/or Service Pack Levels •Set up alerts, operators, SQL Mail, SQL Agent Mail, and notifications. •Set up and schedule jobs that perform backups and database structure checks. •Validate and test new Service Pack levels and new SQL Server Versions before recommended to customers. •Configure Replication, Log Shipping, and Failover clustering to meet customer needs.

Infrastructure: •Work with Windows NT/2000 Administration Teams in defining current and future integration procedures and policies. •Work with Server Hardware Support personnel on issues regarding Server Builds and Hardware upgrades. •Work with Backup personnel on implementing SQL Server Backup and Disaster Recovery. •Work with Server Monitoring, Reporting, and Alerting Team (Ops Group) to create policies and procedures for any errors or warnings created on a SQL Server system.

Application Databases: •Work with App Teams on creating a productive development, staging, and production environment for Application Databases. •Process new App Database requests. •Process App database changes/revision via a QA and migration process. •Create forward and reverse engineered data models as well as assist in data modeling training. •Assist in debugging SQL Script. •Assist in creating and editing DTS packages. •Assist in creating and editing cubes and dimensions. •Create support documents to assist in defining App database environments, i.e. object naming conventions. •Give presentation of SQL Server Topics to assist in developers in understanding SQL Server Technology, new features, etc. •Offer a forum for SQL Server Tips. •Establish support channels and outage notification procedures.

Logistics: •Support hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, M-F

5+ years experience required along sith some experience at the enterprise DBA level.
