Graphex lens shutter tech

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Large format photography : One Thread

Hi, I have Graphex 90mm and 203mm lenses that I'd like to have serviced. The 203 sticks and I'd like to have both checked for timing prior to a trip to Europe.

Does anyone have a reference for a good tech? I'll Fedex to them and back, I just need someone that can do the work before June.

Thanks!

Steve Grimes!

He did a great job with the CLA on my 90mm Optar.

Steve is fine if all you need is a cleaning. But, if any replacement parts are necessary, there's a better source. Try Fred Lustig. His phone number in Nevada is 775-746-0111.

Clearly the best thing to do here is have the shutters CLA'd by an expert.

It is worth mentioning though, that in a pinch, the Graphex shutters seem to respond better than most to cleaning by flushing with lighter fluid followed by an in-situ relubrication with a lighter fluid/graphite mixture. Unless something is broken internally, this usually frees up a sticky Graphex.

You'll want to be sure that all of the lighter fluid has evaporated before remounting the glass
