Lenore, Helen, Eleanora, etc. are poetic variations of a name for his ideal feminine subject. The sound is poetic, suggests light, brilliance and relates to how he named some significant women in his life. Helen Stannard, Ellen Royster, Helen Whitman. Primarily though the use of this name is primarily a poetic device concerning the femininie ideal as Beauty or Hope as a beacon for the pilgrim poet. Not exactly as Beatrice was for Dante, less distinct, less amorous, less a real person.
