PExpress has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL

When trying import digital video into PExpress I get PExpress has caused a fault in KEERNEL32.DLL and will now close & I have to reboot. HELP!

This answer is long after your post, but perhaps someone will benefit.

The same thing happened to me after I installed WDM (Windows Driver Model) capture drivers for another capture card. If you have two capture sources, for example, an analog capture card like Hauppauge WinTV and any 1394 (Firewire, I-link) device, then it may be that drivers for one of them have overwritten drivers for the other.

If this is the case, the solution is not simple. It may be possible to use a VFW (video for Windows) driver for analog capture, and WDM for your 1394. You would have to delete and uninstall both, first. Also, be sure to go to "Scanners and Cameras" in Control Panel, and delete your camcorder (if any) there, if using 1394. When you connect the camcorder again, it should install the drivers that it thinks are adequate for itself.

Okay, here is a better way to fix the problem. Simply re-install a version of DirectX 8.1 or later. That cleaned up everything for video capture for me.
