Threatening Note Found At Irving Middle School

Note Named Students And Teachers

NORMAN, Okla. -- A note threatening several students and teachers at Norman's Irving Middle School was discovered by students Friday in the school's eighth-grade hallway.

School officials believe a student wrote the letter, which named several students and teachers. The letter specifically stated that he or she desired to harm the individuals on the last day of school, principal Jerry Privett wrote in a letter to parents Monday.

Fifteen students and two teachers were named in the note, said Connie Blaney of Norman Public Schools.

"On that list, there were 15 students and two teachers -- it was a threatening letter that they were going to harm those people on the last day of school," Blaney said.

Six other students were also named in the letter with a notation from the author that those students were not to be harmed, Eyewitness News 5's Randy McIlwain reported.

"We want to assure you that we are conducting a thorough investigation into this matter," Privett said. "We have heightened security at the school for the rest of this week."

Norman Campus Police and the Norman Police Department are involved in the investigation, he said.

"We have to take these things seriously," Blaney said. "In that last week of school, many times there are pranks, but we have to take them seriously."

If they catch the kid, prank or not, deny graduation, along with whatever the law allows. Sounds like a certain kid hasn't learned enough to graduate anyway.
