Perhaps I did not make it very clear, but the guarantor was removed by request to the lender - I have the paperwork to prove it and this was way before repossession. Does this improve my situation ?

In that case, absolutely. They have no right to contact the ex-guarantor in these circumstances.

The lender would have to agree though...if you just requested it and they did not respond or write back with the documents you and they needed to sign, the approach to the guarantor is valid as they are still a co-signatory. I hit send accidentally on the above post - sorry!
