TroyBilt tiller

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACountryPlace : One Thread

Wish I'd never seen or heard tell of them. Oh well, has anybody bought the weights TroyBilt sells to put on the tiller-we have the Super Bronco-definitely lives up to it's name. Do these weights keep it from jumping/leaping forward?

I think these have to be ordered from Troybilt. Anyone else here know for sure?

Cindy,

What are you trying to till with it? My Troy-Bilt (Horse) only will do this if I hit something like a rock or chunk of wood etc. It will sometimes do it when tilling sod under, or when trying to till in too much mulch/compost at once. Otherwise it goes down the row without any effort. Are you tring to till too deep on your first pass, that may be the problem? I know it took me a little while to not try to do it all on the first pass.

Talk to you later.

I have an Ariens Rocket tiller that seemed to have had the lug type tires on backwards. When I finally found a manual for it, it stated that they were intentionally on backwards to let the tires have some rearward traction in case the tiller wanted to leap forward. I am going to "load" my new set of tires to gain some extra weight.

Chad

Cindy I bought the same kind of tiller you have and it does the same thing....if you find an answer please let me know.

I agree with Bob from WI. Rocks etc. make mind do what you describe, as well as going to deep the first time through. New sod I do several passes before going as deep as I want.
