Runnin of the hogs! [preachin]

Not to be cornfused with the "runnin of the bulls" but it was still a footrace just the same. The hoglot was a BIG part of the lower barnlot about 50 years ago. Fenced in with wovenwire fencing with an electric wire above the 3' wire. Pap always had about 6 old sows with their little "pups" in that area with access to the barn.

He had made pets out of all his farrowin sows, they'd come to the fence want'n him to scratch'm behind their ears. Those hogs weren't made into pets for paps pleasure tho. He had a much more important reason for that decision. When they "pigged" he would be in with'm. That's a mighty fine time to have that mamma for a friendly pet!

On one occasion--somebody left the little walkway door open in the barn. Next thing we knew there was a bunch of momma hogs and their "pups" out rootin around in the field, chicken yard, cow lot and even our back yard! Talk about subborn hogs! Those ornery critters were a handful just getti'n back in their pen! This is where I am reminded of the Spanish "runnin of the bulls" thingy across the pond. Somehow I don't think it's quite the same but we still got our exercise!

Finally gave in and let Lil Dumplin buy me a new fishin license today. We had to buy'm at wallyworld---whom I detest! Anyhow, we're ready to go fish'n.

Jesus Christ told his diciples to come with Hima and He would make them fishers of men. Are you tryin to lead people to Him? That'a a commandmant from Him---"Go ye". old hoot. Matt.24:44

Three summers ago, my littlest granddaughter adored the movie, "Babe". Watched it over and over and over. Well. . . Granny was at a stock sale and there were baby pigs, and I decided to bring home a little "Babe" for the g-daughter. And so I bid. I discovered too late that I had to buy ALL five of the pigs in the litter. So, home I came with the 5 little "Babes".

They WERE adorable. Cute as could be. Two of them had blue eyes! A local produce seller gave me all the excess vegetables, and I bought pick up loads of used bread and donuts at the day-old store for only $3.00. The pigs were eating well. And they grew and grew.

Then, they started breaking out of the cattle panel pen. Not a day went by but what they were creating havoc in my fields, or yard rooting here and there. I wired panels, tied panels, put in extra posts, and they outsmarted me over and over.

Those pigs nearly drove me crazy! Another lesson learned the HARD way! ( Which is the only way I seem to be able to learn).
