This translation is really a mini-commentary which features a system of verse-end alternate translations and comments on different shades of meaning in the original languages.

New Testament was done in 1958; Old Testament in 1964; was Revised 1987

sample verse: 1 Peter 3:15: But in your hearts set Christ apart as holy [and acknowledge Him] as Lord. Always be ready to give a logical defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope that is in you, but do it courteously and respectfully.

I use the Amplified version and it has opened up the whole meaning of the Scriptures to me. I highly recomended. I have ordered the software for it.
