Do women masturbate? Or is this a huge made-up-thing by the media? Do many women own vibrators?

I am not a perv, this is just something that bothers me.

But what is it about the subject that exactly bothers you, Jeff?

And I'm curious as to what and where the media-made-up thing is. I don't recall seeing or hearing anything on this in any media.

Not bothers me in an annoyance way. It bothers me in so far as I dont know the truth. As I said before, this is an innocent question, and I aint bein perverted. Sorry if it seems that way.

I mean the media as in the rumours or whateveer you want to call them, urban legends, that all women masturbate. You know, the sort of stats that people make up and no one knows the truth about.

Sorry!

Do women masturbate? Do cats have ankles?

No, only men masturbate....Women have no sexual desires whatsoever and the only reason any of them submit to actually having sex is because they want babies or they want their boyfriend to like them.

No, no no, that was sarcasm. What a question!!!! Of course we do! Most people who are comfortable with their bodies and have sex drives masturbate--whether male or female. It is not just a guy thing, and it's silly to think that only men have sexual urges.

As far as 'being made up by the media'....huh? That's like saying that lesbians have been 'made up by the media' just because the "lesbian" scenes in straight porn are contrived. If real women didn't masturbate, why would vibrator manufacturers exist?

Just curious--why does this "bother" you? Do you have any female friends you feel comfortable asking about this?

Everyone masturbates! As Woody said, "It's sex with someone you love".

Yes, women masturbate !!! It is the most pleasing, satisfying and fulfilling experience as like men. Moreover, It gives the flexibility to the women to acheive sexual pleasure and orgasm at any time, without depending on the availability, prowess and mood of her partner.

Women do masturbate and women should masturbate -- more and more. The sexually content women are more sensuous and more sexy. Continuous masturbation can only satisfy the sexual appetite of women on a continual basis without depending on their male counterpartss.

VIVA MASTURBATION !!!! It is not only refreshing, it makes life worth living.

If you agree : Masturbate more and allow women to masturbate before you ------ help them to masturbate -- till eternity.

If you do not agree : Please do not masturbate , But allow women to masturbate before you, help them so that they cam masturbate profusely.

This is for Celine. I didn't know women enjoy masturbation that much. You said we should help a woman masturbate. How's is that? I think if you enjoy it, then you should do it.

One question, however, I wonder if women masturbate like porn shows us, sticking big objects and vibrators and screeming lke hell, or is it more like just touching and rubbing?

why do guys rely on porn as the basis for all their knowledge about sex? More specifically, why would you think that every woman masturbates in exactly the same way, just because porn shows the same stuff over and over? Porn is made almost exclusively for a male audience, and most of the stuff that women do in porn is designed to excite the guys watching it, not to reflect reality. I think it's interesting that so many of the guys in this forum have asked questions like, "Well, is it like what we see in porn?" That's like asking your male friends if their sexual behavior is just like we see in porn. Porn is not real! People are real, and all of us are different, and do and enjoy different things!

every person masturbates differently, some women just touch themselves and some do stick objects into themselves (hence, the existence of sex toys). It's an *individual* thing and there are no rules as for what 'women' like or do, because every woman is different.

Yes woman masturbate, Yes there are some that don't see their body as a beautiful thing that don't but if your comfortable with yourself then hell yeah enjoy it just as you would expect your partner to. I love staying sexually active with or without the man there, it keeps me on my toes as to know what i want, you discover many things this way and it's fun to try to see if your partner can figure it out just as u have. So yes some woman do masturbate, and I personally, LOVE IT!...that and Porn, Porn is not just for guys ya know!

I never said porn was only for men; I just said it was made for men. I love porn as much as the next girl, but I find a lot of it lacking. If straight porn wasn’t made strictly for guys, there would be: more focus on the men and hotter male stars; the female stars would be less fake-looking and actually enjoy themselves (you know, have real orgasms instead of faking it theatrically for the benefit of male viewers); and maybe even some guy-on-guy action (Something which a lot of women I know, including me, find a turn on, and which only really freaks out straight men…kinda ironic when you consider how many men love ‘lesbian’ scenes). There are a few houses that do make porn for a more mixed audience, but they are few and far between. I don’t see how anybody could think that most of the pornos they’ve seen AREN’T designed specifically to excite male viewers. I am not saying I don’t like porn or I think it’s ‘only’ for men. I just think that the people who make porn (and a lot of the guys who watch it! Including, probably, some of the men in this discussion) don’t even consider the fact that women like it too, and we’d probably like it even better if there was more porn designed specifically to turn US on. (Vivid video, are you reading this?)

Yes,

A survey returned that more than 33% of girls had masturbated before the age of 13.

Masturbation gives women a sense of fulfillment. It is what makes life worth living, after all. It is the pleasure without any of the drawbacks. In fact, it is all that makes life worth living. No guy out there can ever satisfy a girl the way he should. It is the proverbial wonderland in the centre of the eye. Let's all bow down and worship masturbation, for it is truly the divine being that makes us all want to touch ourselves all night long. In the words of Cathy Dennis,

"Touch me all night long."

To say that, "no man can satisfy a woman the way he should," is precisely the kind of horse puckey that contributes to dissention between the sexes. If men are so incapable of pleasing women, then women must be pretty goddam stupid to have sex with them. Perhaps reality is that men are clueless; but I can say for sure, women are even more clueless. And what's worse, is that women care far less about pleasing men than the reverse. I don't know one man who can honestly say he wouldn't enjoy and "initiate" oral pleasure performed for a woman. However, generally speaking, you definitely cannot say the same about women performing for men. Yeah, there are some women who like it, but the majority don't. Think about this: for the most part, sexual fulfillment is almost exclusively put on the shoulders of men and not women. If it's not good, women can always blame it on the man and get away with it; either his schlong isn't big enough, or he didn't do this, he didn't do that, he did too much of this, or too little of that. When was the last time you saw published anywhere at any time, an article entitled, "Is your vagina tight enough?" NEVER. There are thousands of articles that are aimed to make men question the worth of their penis. From what I observe happening in the real world, women have little, if any obligations for their own sexual fulfillment or their partner's sexual fulfillment. It's hardly perplexing why the guy above is so confused as to whether or not women really do masturbate. Twelve different web sites gives grossly conflicting data. One site acknowledges that 17% of women have masturbated. That's masturbated, not masturbate regularly. Another site states that 33% of all women have masturbated by the time they reach the age of 13. Such figures would indicate that an overwhelming majority of the female population does not masturbate, and even less masturbate regularly. In reality, however, women actually lie when confronted about this question with uncanny reliability, even when their anonymity would be maintained. Of course women masturbate, because as our proverbial contestant directly above me clearly stated, "no man can satisfy a woman the way he should." And don't kid yourselves gentlemen, this kind of thinking is all too common. Never mind that women give little insight into telling men what they want. Never mind that the possible turn ons and turn offs are individually unique and literally infinite in all their possiblilities. Men are automatically supposed to know exactly what makes each individual woman cum as if it was inherited genetic information.

As far as porn goes, the majority of it is crap and serves as a diservice to the sexual welfare of society. I don't mean to say that is contributes to crime or sexual assaul against children. However, it does create a facade of what awesome sex is supposed to be like. The reality, however, is that female porn stars can't give head worth a damn. Personally, if I wanted to be sucked with the force of a vaccuum, all I'd have to do is plug in my Hoover. And how about those men. You'd think the entire male population was hung with 9". The truth, the average is 5.1 inches, and that's hard! I do have to agree with the woman above who feels porn is generally made to appeal to a male audience. She is definitely right about that. Of course, there is a reason for that. Porn exists primarily to fulfill the needs of persons who cannot get sex. And that, will always proportionally relate primarily to men instead of women. The average woman can get it at anytime; she may have to lower her standards a bit, but she can get it. I suppose in theory, you could make the same argument for men. In reality, however, men would have to lower those standards far, far more than a woman having to lower her standards to get the same thing. That's the honest truth.

In summary: yes women masurbate. Probably with far greater frequency that will ever be ascertained from "data", but still, with less frequency than men. This is because - 1. women lie, and 2. because when it comes to sex, the ego ALWAYS plays a role, and generally speaking, a woman can find a male substitute alternative for masturbation, whereas, men generally cannot do the same. For the most part, porn sucks and only serves to create an illusion of what the best sex is supposed to be like. In reality though, the best sex is nothing like it is portrayed in pay for porn.

Yes, women masturbate... It feels good.. and sometimes moaning and sticking things inside of us just makes it all that much more pleasurable. I also like to fantasize about things I would never do, like sleep with other women or be a hooker. It's fun!

Just had to say something to egr2please@hotmail.com. I fully agree with your statements; it's refreshing to read this.

No, most women don't tell men what they want. Yes, any average woman who still has her "market value" can get sex from a man. It's the way society has brought up women and men that makes even the original question a legitmate one to ask. We don't always get open, honest answers from women on the subject, at least as honest as men do. That's what makes it so frustrating to hear statements like "No guy out there can ever satisfy a girl the way he should." Stop acting as if we can't. I will agree that some men don't try to find out, but many of us do - either by observation or communication. We are capable of seeing what our partners raction are to touch, and believe it or not, most men are not out for themselves.

A book that should be required reading for any adolecent male teen is "The Manipulated Man" by Esther Vilar. Even though published in 1972, much of the facts expressed by this female author still hold true in today's society. In fact, much of what is mentioned in this book has raised so much controversey among women that the author has received numerous death threats in her time. I read this book not to have a deep hatred of women - not at all, but to understand some of things women do to men to keep them "at bay". If women were as open and honest about their sexual feelings as men are, we would have a much better understanding for each other's needs. It's just that many - but not all - women Men will never fully understand women - which is intentional, but women sure have us figured out.

Just to mention, you can still purchase this book at amazon.com.

I found this messageboard because I wanted to learn more about how to pleasure a woman through masturbation. Perhaps it was niave to look on the internet for those answers, but my intention is to fully please my partner as much as I possibly could. I truly wish that many women would stop the facade and give us men a chance. The only reasons why men are deemed such sexually agressive creatures is that women are taught - often by their mothers - to control their own urges. That gives them the advantage over men, which is why any average women can always find a willing male partner, anywhere and anytime.

Again thank you, egr2please, for that enlightening passage.
