Core decompression from a Physical therapists perspective

greenspun.com : LUSENET : About Joints : One Thread

I am a student physical therapist giving an inservice on core decompression surgery. I am most intrigued by a patient's rehab protocol post core surgery (knee and hip). I was wondering if one exists?

The most important thing is that the patient is partial weight- bearing. There have been reports of hip fractured after cores of the hip. I do six weeks of 20% WB with crutches and the check radiographs. FOr the knee it may depend on the location of the lesion, but most of these are treated with partial weight-bearing and PT consits of ROM and strengthening
