"Satisfied" - what is the point?

Does having any debt on your credit file marked "satisfied" serve any purpose? Surely the original default is the only thing taken into account by credit scoring and so the only reason to "satisfy" a debt is a moral one?

No. It means restitution has been made and the debt has been paid to the satisfaction of the creditor. Unsatisfied debts follow you around, well after the so-called 6 year spring-clean on your credit file.
