SAR,

I read your post wanting to know about the installation of Pergo.

A couple of years ago, hubby and I had a vacation from hell where we went to Maryland to find his house there was completely destroyed. We spent two weeks and did a "This Old House" kinda thing. We almost had to rebuild the house from the inside out.

That being said, we put down Pergo in the living room and halls. Not sure if you are using the snap together type or the glue type. If you are using the glue type, try to get more straps so that you can do more at one time without having to stop for the glue to set up so that you can move the straps.

I would put the moisture block sheet down before putting the foam down. There could be times due to excessive rains that the concrete will become sort of moist. Having that water block down will keep the foam underfloor from possibly getting damp. I would think that if it got damp that it could mold. Mold is bad! You'd hate to rip it up just to replace the foam say 10 or so years down the line.

Enjoy the floor once it is put in. When you are finished, you'll be able to stand back and be even more proud because you can say you did it yourself. It isn't that hard to do, just a lot of work. If you plan ahead, you won't have the near waste that they calculate, at least that is what we found. But that also depends on the size of the room. We were lucky enough that when we determined the lengths of our cuts if we cut 1/2 and left 2/3's of a board we had zero loss of material because the room length was perfect for the 1/3 1 2/3 stagger to come out to the exact length.

thanks, Apoc! I am excited about it..I would like to add the second barrier, to be safe!

we looked at depot, it was 63.00 a box....same stuff at Lowes was 50.00 a box. once had it figured at 830.00, and now have just over 500.00 into it.

this yr. (4 th yr living here) the Sunroom floor (commerical tile) sweated..we don't have to the hot tub filled in the summer. It was from the humidity and all the rain! the dining room is higher, but same general area.

will let you know how it turnes out!

oh, we are going to go back and get that install kit .

I'd like to have this in my front room, too, so that is why we are doing a small room first.
