Gastrointestinal Illess Strikes 50 People This Month
SALT LAKE CITY -- Health agencies are investigating an outbreak of gastrointestinal illness among rafters in the Grand Canyon.
Park officials said they're working with public health investigators to determine the identity and source of the illness.
It causes nausea, vomiting and diarrhea for up to 48 hours -- and it has affected more than 50 people so far this month.
The park has not evacuated any rafters because of the illness.
Officials said they're looking for patterns -- such as locations where river trips are launched.
