Suspicion Confirmed

This morning's Washington Post reports that two major entertainment retailers in the area will no longer carry VHS tape cassettes, just DVD. I've been speculating that this would happen.

Hi Peter. I was just thinking about you yesterday. How's it going?

I wonder if they will have the VHS at clearance prices.

Things are going fine, Barefoot. I've been spending quite a bit of time in Ames, Iowa, where my mother lives. Ninety-two but in good health, knock wood.

I don't have DVD, and now that I have my dish, I may not bother (what with TCM, Turner Classic Movies). Great channel. A few days ago I saw a movie that I saw as a kid (told my mother I was going to the public library and went instead to a movie that would not have gotten parental approval. I did that a lot.) "Voodoo Island", featuring Boris Karloff, zombieism, and man-eating plants. Who could want anything more.

Sounds like a fun movie! LOL

We bought a DVD when the CD player broke during the move to storage after the fire. Since then we have bought several movies on CD. I particularly enjoy Harry Potter. On VHS we have Shrek which I also enjoy. LOL

Planet of the Apes is good, but I prefer the new Star Wars movie.

I'm not much into scary movies, but we do have one which sharks in it. I haven't watched it, but I hear it's good. I don't like the idea of being in an alien environment where there is no escape from something that wants to eat you. But then again, I liked the Alien movies with Sigourney Weaver. Must have been the sci fi angle. i don't have any of those in my library. We have some action films, I think.

Have you seen Evolution? The recent comedy movie with that guy David something or other from X files? LOL Absolutely rediculous, and yet...

Someone loaned me "Harry Potter" on DVD -- I like it, too! I didn't WHS was on its way out. Good think that I got DVD player.

I was doing massive graphics work last week and managed to crash my computer system. Since the present set-up is a mess of cobbled together stuff that sometimes gets into internal squabbles, I'm working on replacing the whole mess. I'm off this week and can do some shopping for the best deal (as in *barter* if at all possible).

So, that's why I'll be scarce for a bit.

OG, if you see this, don't try to do too much, okay? I'm concerned about you in all this humidity.

Okay, onward. Catch y'all later.

hanks, Meems, but I screwed up my good knee--did I tell anyone? I can't remember. Anyway, I've got fluid leaking all over the damn thing and I can't do much of anything. Been laid up most of the last couple of weeks. How am I managing? Well, I have a fridge full of stuff and then there's the storeroom. . . And the Hungarian has been taking me to get milk and stuff, no sweat.

I've been working in Jim's bathroom--very small--scraping wallpaper. I do about a square foot at a time and then rest for a bit. Esther comes on Mondays to shovel up debris.

I wish you had mentioned you wanted to remove wallpaper.

Use fabric softener on it. It comes right off.

Just wipe it with fabric softener, let it sit a bit to soak in, and then it peels right off. Then rinse the wall off.

I had just finished the last bit of scraping when I read this. AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!

But I may redo the paper that's on one living room wall; if so, then this info will be VERY useful--thanks, BF.

Git, I think it has to do with the kind of wallpaper. Some comes off more easily than others.

In my own excursion, I used the commercial solution, but I filled one of my pressurized garden sprayers. Wet area a; wet area b; scrape area a; wet area b and c; scrape area b... It went VERY quickly, although it required a fair amount of sanding to prepare the surface for painting (don't recall if that is what you intended to do.

I'm sorry to hear about your knee, OG. OUCH.

Thanks for the wall paper stripping tips, folks. I may be doing that soon, too.
