Today, June 26, we members of the Catholic Church family honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- saints whose souls are now in heaven:

St. Anthelm of Belley (French, nobleman, Carthusian prior, bishop, d. 1178)
St. Babolenus of Fosses (abbot in France, c. 677)
Bl. Bartholomew de Vir (French, bishop, Cistercian monk, d. 1157)
St. Corbican (Irish, hermit, 8th century)
St. David of Thessalonica (Greek, hermit for 70 years, spiritual directord, 5th century)
St. Hermogius of Tuy (Spanish, Benedictine monk, bishop, c. 942)
Bl. Jane Gerard, Bl. Mary Magdalen Fontaine, and two companions (French, members of Sisters of Charity, martyred [guillotined] by revolutionaries in 1792 [beatified 1920])
St. John of the Goths (Russian, bishop, opposed iconoclast heresy, c. 800)
Sts. John and Paul (Roman, biological brothers, army officers, named in Eucharistic Prayer I [Roman Canon], martyred c. 362?)
St. Maxentius of Poitou (French, abbot, c. 515)
St. Pelayo of Oviedo (Spanish, boy taken hostage, tortured and martyred by Moslems at about age 13 in 925)
St. Perseveranda of Poitiers (French, nun, c. 726)
Sts. Salvius and Superius (French, bishop and companion, martyred c. 768)
St. Terence (Roman, commander of imperial bodyguard, martyred in 1st century)
St. Vigilius of Trent (Roman, nobleman, bishop, martyred by stoning in 405)

If you have anything to share about these holy people, please reply now -- biographical episodes, prayers through their intercession, the fact that one is your patron saint -- whatever moves you. If you are interested in one of these saints and want to find out more about him/her, please ask. Information is sometimes available on the Internet.

All you holy men and women, saints of God, pray for us.
God bless you.
John

One of my entries for June 26, above, states:
Bl. Jane Gerard, Bl. Mary Magdalen Fontaine, and two companions (French, members of Sisters of Charity, martyred [guillotined] by revolutionaries in 1792 [beatified 1920])

Today, I discovered three things:
1. Bl. Fontaine is also known as Madeleine (French for Magdalen).
2. The names of the two companions are Bl. Therese Fantou and Bl. Francoise Lanel.
3. There is some uncertainty about whether one or more of them is commemorated on June 27.
