live and learn ???

got rained out of work today, , good, I didnt want to go anyways. Was supposed to rain here, but it didnt, jus got hot and humid again. I went junking over the weekend, and found a metal bin,, figured it would hold 300 - 500 pound of corn. I brought it home, filled in the holes with JB Weld. Moved it into position, found the buckets I had filled with corn, empied them into the bin. Then went to get a small, (15 gal ) cooler I had put corn in over the winter,, picked it up,, (seems a bit heavier than I remember), set it on the edge of the bin, to remove the cover,,,,, and ALMOSTED GAGGED ! ! !! ! . The smell was HORRIBLE,, where did THAT come from???????? Set it down, it tipped on its side,, and water, well USED to eb water, came pouring on out,,, no wonder it was so heavy. ABout 25 pounds of corn is now, PUTRID. Well,,, another life leason learned I guess,, coolers DONT keep water out, even though it was under a roof,, and wasnt hit directly by the rain,, it got in somehow. Either that, or the corn wasnt dry enough, but with that much water that came out,, had to be more than that. The buckets were fine, and they were out on the yard since winter.

Anyone else have a "lived and learned" leason ??

Lesson #1: Don't try making manure tea too close to your house in the summer. The smell lasts longer than a few hours and when the barrel is full it's too heavy to move. Lesson #2: NEVER bring home baby pigs before the pig house is completed. Lesson #3: Don't 'play' with a bull calf-he will grow up and still want to play. What's cute from a 80#calf is dangerous from a 1000# bull. Lesson #4: No matter how good of a deal the hatchery gives you, don't agree to take all the remaining chicks from their last hatch of the year without knowing how many there may be. Lesson #5: Rabbits & deer WILL eat hot peppers. In fact they will eat All of them. Lesson #6: Turkeys meant for Thanksgiving dinner if not butchered will reach 84# in 2 yrs. They do work good as deterrents from uninvited company, salesmen & missionaries.:)

Now matter how difficult some days may be, I can't imagine living a different life. KA

Amateurs. I run my tea perculators in my livingroom beside the aquariums (least way since the divorce :>) and bottle it on the diningroom table. Of course, I compost the cowpie through the worms first :>)
