greenspun.com : LUSENET : Repossession : One Thread

Our land was sold at auction last Tuesday and I told the owner's agent we would be completely moved out no later than July 25th. We are working on a house that will be ready within the next couple of weeks. He said that from the time he files for eviction, we would have about 20 days or so. He came with a note today stating we have 3 days to vacate the premises. He then called and told us he is filing for eviction on Tuesday and that once the Constable serves us nothing can be removed from the land and that we would only be given 24 hours to move by the judge. Can someone tell me how this works? Our new home will be ready in a couple of weeks but is not ready now and we are not sure what to do now. Thanks

Sorry - this is a UK site. You need to get local advice.

Sounds like you have/had a very friendly landlord Lisa. As already pointed out this is a UK site for victims of house / flat repossessions and doesn't deal with the US. In your shoes I think I'd look at renting a trailer for a couple of weeks until the new house is ready, or buy a tent.
