Opportunities late in the year

I am taking the apprenticeship exam on August 14th and am wondering what my chances are of getting a position this late in the year. I'm also very interested in becoming a finish carpenter, would I be better suited to work as a general carpenter for 4 years and then look into finish carpentry? Thanks for your time.

You have a very good chance indeed. A great deal of work is ongoing. Construction is not as seasonal as it used to be. Continue in your apprenticeship to be a well rounded cratsman. If Finishing gets slow you will be prepared to do other craft work. Fraternal Regards, Rocky
